The Toaster Coaster™ Story
The baking tray under my mom's toaster
There was always a baking tray under my mom's toaster.
I didn't think about it much growing up. It was just there — slid neatly under the toaster and kept in the cupboard, catching whatever fell. Crumbs, burnt bits, the occasional sesame seed. She didn't make a big deal of it. It was just how things were done.
Fast forward a few decades, and I found myself doing the same thing in my own kitchen. A cookie sheet shoved under a two-slice toaster, functioning as a crumb tray, functioning as a catch-all, functioning as the thing I pretended wasn't slightly embarrassing every time someone came over.
Here's the thing though — we always knew it needed to be a real product. The cookie sheet was an eyesore. It was too clunky, clearly not meant to be there. But it worked, so we lived with it.
Then we upgraded to a four-slice toaster.
The cookie sheet didn't fit anymore. And that was it — the workaround we'd tolerated for years was suddenly gone, and we were back to crumbs on the counter and the daily wipe-down we'd been happily avoiding. Losing the janky solution was the push we finally needed to make the right one.
I mentioned it to Brett. He said, "Why doesn't something like that already exist?"
Good question.
We looked. We found cutting board mats, silicone trivets, random trays that were either too small, too flimsy, or clearly designed for something else entirely. Nothing purpose-built. Nothing that looked good. Nothing that said this belongs here.
So we made it.
Toaster Coaster™ is a powder-coated steel pad designed to sit under your toaster. It catches crumbs so your counter doesn't have to. It's weighted, it's wipe-clean, and it comes in Matte Black and Matte White — because it should look like it belongs on your counter, not like an afterthought you pulled out of a junk drawer.
We're based in Camrose, Alberta. We ship across Canada.
